At Laura Radford Photography we consider portraits to be fine art, worthy of displaying in a prominent place in your home.  We strive to create a portrait that is unique and special to you.  In order to do that we have developed a process that will help us reach that goal.  Best practices are listed below.

  1. Consultation– A consultation prior to your photography session will allow us to plan your desired session.  We will discuss your vision of the photos that you want to create.  Indoor?  Outdoor?  Combination?  If outdoor, do you want nature or industrial/urban images?  Do you want to include your home or your garden?  Who will be included in the photos?  If family is involved, what combinations of people do you want in different photos?  Do you want more traditional, formal or whimsical images?  We will discuss what to wear.  Clothing sometimes has a tendency to clash with backgrounds and detract from the focus of the portrait. We must consider the seasonal colors when taking outdoor photos.  Individual products will be discussed and the photo shoot will be geared to those needs.  Will the images be used for wall portraits, on desks or shelves, as cards such as graduation or Christmas or used to create a beautiful coffee table book.  Products and prices will be available for your consideration.
  2. Photo Session–  The session will be created according to the thoughts and ideas discussed at the consultation.  Time will vary according to the session that was planned.
  3. Image Viewing and Ordering– After the photo session, a viewing session will be scheduled.  Due to the large volume of images taken during the photo session, the unedited images will be viewed and narrowed down to images for purchase.  Then you can determine what format you want for each image:  wall portrait, desk portrait, gift items, cards, books etc.  There are several mediums for portraits to consider such as canvas, fine art papers for prints, metals etc.  All of the people that will be involved in the decision making should be at this consultation so that we can create the order.  Once you have chosen your images they will be edited.  You may then return to determine that they meet your approval, or we will email you a watermarked copy for your approval.  After your approval, and we have received 50% down, the order will be placed.
  4. Once the order is placed, the images are usually returned in about a week.  The final half of the payment is due upon pickup.
  5. Payment plans are available and work similar to layaway.  Once 50% of the payment is received, the order is placed.  When the final payment has been made, the images will be delivered.  It is a simple painless process.
